New faculty onboarding
Many topics are relevant to a new professor, lecturer and university teacher. With this framework we have compiled all elements during a new faculty's onboarding journey.
Tenure track
Have a discussion with your manager on your tenure track career. Agree on annual check-ups to follow your career progression. Prepare your Career Memorandum according to your Academic Career Dialogue. Here are links to more information on tenure track.
Research and innovation
Your school Research Support Services will arrange a meeting with you. You will go through topics on applying research funding, managing an externally funded research project, ethics in research, commercialisation of research results and open science etc. Independently go through the Support for Research eLearning.
Learning and teaching
Meet with your school Learning Services Manager and Pedagogical Specialist to get familiar with teaching and supervising. Meet with Study Programme Director. Go through the links below. Participate in pedagogical training.

Support for faculty and students making theses by discipline and in general related to information retrieval, publication and information resources.
For researchers
Learning Centre supports postgraduates and researchers by providing access to information resources. We also assist in information retrieval, publication and open science related questions.
Leadership
Start your new leader's onboarding journey with discussing your manager role with your unit HR. Enroll to new Aalto manager onboarding program, which includes four training modules, independent online eLearnings and a 360 assessment.
Competence development
Participate in training courses, webinars and independent online learnings in Workday Learning. Familiarise to Aalto with an Onboarding Buddy and later on with a Mentor.
Financial matters
Meet with your School and unit Controller to familiarise with financial tasks concerning your research group budgeting, budget for external funding application, procurement etc. Finance professionals will help you also with Halli system and Travel team will help you with booking work trips.
IT
Meet with your unit IT representative and IT servicedesk to get all equipment and guidelines, data storage and software licences etc.
