With the help of survey tools, a teacher can ask for feedback, conduct small surveys, and provide options for students to choose from.

In short

In short

  • With survey tools, a teacher can collect feedback, conduct small tests, and request students to choose from options.
  • Survey tools are Choice, Feedback, and Questionnaire

Feedback

Feedback activity is intended for requesting feedback during the course.  You can use it anonymously or with names. Results can be presented to all participants or restricted to the teacher only.

In Feedback activity, there are several question types: multiple choice, 'yes/no', or free text. You can also use depending questions, which means the respondent can be directed to specific questions depending on previous answers.

The feedback activity can be used, for example, to gather feedback after a lesson, ask if something was difficult, etc. Feedback lists responses by question.

Note! The new course feedback system also allows feedback to be collected and given during the course.

Questionnaire

The questionnaire activity is intended for making small surveys and collecting information from students. It can be used, for example, as a preliminary information survey.

The questionnaire has many question types: scales, multiple choice, numeric, choice, ‘yes/no’, essay, etc. Students can respond once or several times and see all their responses. You can conduct the survey either anonymously or with names. The survey may include grading.

The questionnaire conducts a report (feedback tab) with a summary of all responses. This report is also visible to students if you have marked the results as visible in the settings. Graphics are shaped according to the question type. The questionnaire lists responses by the respondent.

Choice

In the Choice activity, students are presented with a list of items from which they can select. They can choose one or more options from the list and update their choice if allowed. You can use the Choice activity for quick polls, voting, or gathering preferences. The choice activity is also suitable, for example, for selecting laboratory shifts or choosing a topic or language. Unlike the Questionnaire, the choice activity does not have a grading option and works best with a single question.
