Programme director onboarding and competence development
As a new programme director or a head of major, you will find on this page general information and material intended to help you get started in your role. Your programme’s planning officer can also guide you to the support services offered by your school. Here you will also find other competence development opportunities offered by Aalto University that are aimed for programme directors and heads of majors.
Onboarding materials for degree programme directors
Self-study onboarding material has been published in the Workday Learning environment for those appointed to the role of degree programme director or head of major. The onboarding material is intended for all new programme directors to help them understand the tasks involved in their new role.

Educational Leadership Forum
Educational Leadership Forum is a series of events aimed at programme directors and heads of majors, held three times a year. The event offers opportunities for interaction and networking to support educational leadership at Aalto.
Development of leadership skills
We also aim to organise leadership training tailored for the role for degree programme directors and heads of majors. New opportunities are communicated via the programme directors’ mailing list. Previous offerings have included, among others, Coaching in action -training series and Coaching-style leadership -courses.
