Visiting Aalto University

Independent exploration

Outdoors and many of the campus buildings are public spaces – and thus open for free exploration. The Otaniemi campus area is nearly as large as central Helsinki and has many intriguing places to explore, plus plenty of nice restaurants.

If you have time to explore on your own, try our exhibitions, the Aalto University Shop, a self-guided walk with a campus map, or a curated route such as the outdoor or art trail.

Please note that during holiday seasons (especially from mid‑June to mid‑August) many services run reduced hours or may be closed for summer holidays. Check current opening times here.
