Learning outcomes

After the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Explain the basic principles of the periodic table and relate those to properties of elements
  2. Describe chemical bonding and its importance for the structure and properties of compounds
  3. Write chemical reaction equations and apply them in practice
  4. Explain the basics of chemical equilibrium and apply those to common chemical reactions
  5. Identify basic concepts of thermodynamics

This course substitutes, together with CHEM-A1290 Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry, the previous CHEM-C1220 Principles of General and Organic Chemistry.
