Learning outcomes
After the course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the basic principles of the periodic table and relate those to properties of elements
- Describe chemical bonding and its importance for the structure and properties of compounds
- Write chemical reaction equations and apply them in practice
- Explain the basics of chemical equilibrium and apply those to common chemical reactions
- Identify basic concepts of thermodynamics

This course substitutes, together with CHEM-A1290 Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry, the previous CHEM-C1220 Principles of General and Organic Chemistry.
