The certificate for aalto and eduroam networks changes on 14 October 2025

The certificate for the service (Radius) used by Aalto University's wireless networks, aalto and eduroam, will be changed on 14 October 2025. At the same time, the certificate provider will change to Harica. The certificate is also used for 802.1X port authentication, which is used by physical machines to authenticate to the network via cable.

When you use the aalto or eduroam wireless network, you may receive a notification or a confirmation request regarding the change of the certificate. The change of the service provider might be visible to you during login, especially when logging into the eduroam wireless network.

If you cannot connect to the Aalto or eduroam wireless networks, please use the aalto open wireless network and Aalto VPN service.

For more information please contact IT Service Desk (servicedesk@aalto.fi).

Remote connection to Aalto's network - VPN

People at Aalto, i.e. those with an Aalto user ID, can connect their devices to Aalto University’s network outside of the network, by means of the Cisco VPN service. This helps them, for example, use the network’s internal services and read files stored on Aalto’s network disk
