Who is a visitor?
Visitor refers to a person who is not employed by Aalto and therefore receives no salary from Aalto but needs access to Aalto campus infrastructure or systems in connection with their tasks or role.
The most typical visitor group are the Academic visitors but also on the services side, for example, consultants may form a visitor's relationship with Aalto.

How is the validity of a visitor's Aalto user ID determined?
The validity of an Aalto user ID is tied to the visitor agreement and the dates entered in Aalto HR's main database, the Workday system.
I previously had a firstname.lastname@aalto.fi address. What does this mean for me?
When your visitor agreement begins, your email and username will change to the format ext-firstname.lastname@aalto.fi.
You will receive information about your new Aalto user ID and email address in your personal email when the ID changes, from the address its-accounts@aalto.fi.
After the change, the login format for your Aalto user ID will be ext-firstname.lastname@aalto.fi.
For email, your primary email address will now be ext-firstname.lastname@aalto.fi. "Primary" means that in Outlook, for instance, your email address will appear in the ext format.
If you previously had an aalto.fi address, it will remain as a secondary email address. This means you can still receive emails sent to the aalto.fi address in addition to the ext-aalto.fi address. When you reply to an email sent to your aalto.fi address, your email address will appear as ext-address@aalto.fi.
I previously had an Aalto ID and email address. How will I be informed of my new ext-format Aalto user ID and email address?
You will receive information about your new Aalto user ID and email address in your personal email when the ID changes, from the address its-accounts@aalto.fi.
Your personal email address is the one you have provided in Aalto HR's main database, Workday’s section My Contact Information.
