Communication and Language Studies for a Master's Degree

Master of Science (Economics and Business Administration)

Master of Arts (Arts and Design) 

The M.A. degree includes no obligatory language or communication studies if the required language and communication studies have not been completed before studies for the Master's degree, language studies shall be taken as part of the degree as follows:

• Language of education, 3 cr (only Finnish students)
• Second national language of Finland, 3 cr (only Finnish students)
• Foreign language, 3 cr

Master of Science (Technology) and Master of Science (Architecture)

The M.Sc. degree in Technology includes no obligatory language or communication studies. If the required language and communication studies have not been completed before studies for the Master's degree, language studies shall be taken as part of the degree as follows:

• Oral and written communication proficiency in the student’s language of education is demonstrated as part of the Master's thesis. (only Finnish students)
  • If the student has not completed the oral and written communication studies before their Architecture or Landscape Architecture studies, he/she must complete LC-7108 Write Competently, 2 cr and LC-0570 Communication competence for students in art and design, 1 cr (only Finnish students)
• Second national language of Finland, 2 cr (only Finnish students)
  • Students of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture take a 3-credit version of the course. (only Finnish students)
• Foreign language, 3 cr.
