For many international students, the Master's thesis is the gateway to Finnish working life. International students who do their thesis in cooperation with a company or research organization are more likely to stay working in Finland after graduation, which benefits both companies and the whole Finnish society.
This year Aalto Thesis Day 2024 combines two previous events, Aalto Thesis Fair and Aalto-EIT Matchmaking Event, to reach more organizations and maximize the match with students from the diverse study fields of Aalto University. Organizations are also invited to join the European Institute of Information & Technology (EIT) Master Programs Track as a prelude to the joint networking session with all students. At the networking session, companies will have stands where they can meet students and talk about research topics with them.
Aalto Thesis Day 2024 supports international Master's students to find thesis opportunities in English at companies and employer organizations. Participating organizations can either have an open thesis position on offer, or a foreseen opening for a thesis worker within their focus area. The event is best suited for organizational representatives working in research and development, as well as supervisors and recruiters who are familiar with the organization's ongoing research projects and topics.
Note: During the event, media assets like photographs and videos might be taken for publicity purposes to share event impressions and success with our community and partners. Such media assets will not focus on the person but rather on the event itself.
Through university students, companies get access to the latest knowledge and expertise in the field. By conducting a thesis project, companies can also test potential new employees. Master's thesis project is one of the most effective means of recruiting graduating students. Aalto Thesis Day is an excellent opportunity for companies to create a positive employer image and become profiled among students as an organization that promotes diversity.
Aalto Thesis Day is aimed at all companies and organizations that are interested in utilizing the skills and research knowledge of an international student. At Aalto University, there are international students studying in all Master's programmes, and most students are interested in doing their thesis in cooperation with a Finnish company. In these cases, the language of the thesis is usually English.
Master's level theses are conducted in the fields of technology, business, and art and design. In a Master's thesis, the student utilizes the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies in order to solve a specific problem. Various design, development or research projects related to the organization's industry are suitable topics for thesis projects.
A company participating in the Aalto Thesis Day is recommended to have an open thesis position or at least a topic in mind for the academic year of 2024-2025, or to have plans to recruit a thesis worker for spring 2025. For Master's students, the most optimal time for thesis work is in the spring, starting from January 2025.
This registration form is for participating company and organizational representatives.
Registration for the event is now open and closes on 18.9.2024. We kindly ask all company representatives to make a separate registration for catering purposes.
Ideally we hope that company representatives are people working in the research fields, so that they are able to discuss research and thesis topics with students. Recruiters and HR managers are also welcome to join! Companies are welcome to have more than one participant at the event.
Aalto Thesis Day is a free event for companies. Companies that participate in both Aalto Thesis Day and Aalto Talent Expo are entitled to a 5 % discount on the price of their chosen Aalto Talent Expo stand (excluding already discounted prices, e.g. partnership packages). The discount will be checked during the invoicing phase of Talent Expo.
Student registration for the event is open until 22.9.2024.
