The sixth biannual workshop of the 'Beyond e-Textiles' project was organized on November 5-8, 2023 at Iceland University of the Arts. The workshop agenda was as follows:
The sixth biannual workshop finalized the fifth iteration period of the project. The event explored speculative methods and artistic dimensions, and focused on speculative scenario building discussions.
Participating institutions:
-Aalto University (Aalto)
-University of Turku (UTU)
-VIA University College (VIA)
-University of Borås (UB)
-Iceland University of the Arts (IUA)
The first day of the programme commenced with a 'Meet and Greet' session and assembling of a prototype exhibition in the lobby of Iceland University of the Arts (IUA). It was followed by a public event where all the project teams presented their ongoing research to students and staff at IUA. The second half of the day was devoted to a scenario building workshop "Future Scenarios for Beyond e-Textiles applications". The team leaders also took part in the Steering Board meeting.
On the second day, all workshop participants were invited on a trip to the Northwest Iceland. We visited Kidka Wool Factory in Hvammstangi, The Textile Museum and The Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós. Each visit included a tour around the facilities and engaging discussions with local personnel.
The third and final day of the workshop involved reflections on the current state of the project and a visit to the Intelligent Instruments Lab at IUA.
This event was (partly) supported by NordForsk through the funding to Nordic network on smart light-conversion textiles beyond electric circuits, project number 103894.
