Application Guidelines: Information Technology Program (ITP)

Applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds are encouraged to apply to Aalto University’s Information Technology Program (ITP). The summer minor is designed to bring together students with diverse perspectives and interests in digital technologies. During the program, students will have the opportunity to collaborate with companies and work on real-world digital challenges, gaining practical experience alongside academic learning. This page provides detailed information and answers to common questions regarding the application process and guidelines.

Application Process

The application process consists of filling out an online application form.

Exchange students from School of Business partner universities do not apply with the application form available on this website. They will receive an application link and instructions after they have been nominated by their home university.

How to Apply

The application must be completed in one sitting. Before starting the form, make sure you have the required documents prepared and saved behind a cloud storage service link (e.g. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint). Ensure that all links are accessible. These instructions are also available on the application form itself below.

You will need to provide the following:

  1. Official transcript of records (for current students) or degree certificate (for graduates)
  2. CV in PDF format, including a link to your LinkedIn profile
  3. Motivation letter or video

Write a motivation letter (approximately one page) or record a video (maximum 2 minutes) addressing and keeping in mind the following:

  • Motivation for ITP: Why are you applying to ITP, and how does the program align with your interests and goals?
  • Skills & team contribution: What relevant hard skills do you bring (e.g. coding (languages should be listed), design, research, tools, certifications), and how do you contribute to teams through collaboration, communication, leadership, or other strengths?
  • Experience & background: What relevant academic, professional, or project experience has prepared you for ITP?
  • Learning mindset: How do you demonstrate learnability, such as willingness to learn, adapt, take initiative, and develop new skills independently?
  • Clarity & coherence: Ensure your submission is well-structured, concise, and communicates your message clearly. Creative approaches are encouraged, provided the core information is clearly communicated.

Please note: The video does not need to follow a traditional “video interview” format. Creativity is encouraged!
