After completing the course, the students are able to:
• Recognize the different elements of the triple bottom line i.e. economic, environmental and social
sustainability in the context of supply chains
• Develop environmental and social sustainability strategies and practices into different stages and
functions within a supply chain
• Identify and overcome supply chain sustainability implementation challenges
• Evaluate how sustainability strategies impact supply chain performance from environmental, social
and economic viewpoints
• Recognize industry differences and challenges in implementing supply chain sustainability
The course topics include the triple bottom line in supply chain context, i.e. environmental, social and economic sustainability. Topics include benefits of sustainability in supply chains, environmental issues in purchasing and supply, sustainability in logistics, circular economy approaches to supply chains, social sustainability in supply chains, sustainability certifications and implementation issues. Different environmental sustainability perspectives are discussed, such as emissions reduction, water sustainability and biodiversity conservation. Both organization and industry perspectives are discussed on the course.

Exam instructions at the Open University
The teacher has four (4) weeks to grade the exam submissions starting from the exam date.
