The Dr. h.c. Marcus Wallenberg's Foundation in Finland supports the establishment of professorships at Hanken School of Economics and the School of Business

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Dr. h.c. Marcus Wallenberg’s Foundation for Research in Business Administration has decided to support the establishment of two endowed professorships. In addition, the foundation announces that it will significantly increase its annual support for the doctoral programme Kataja.

‘The Dr. h.c. Marcus Wallenberg’s foundation’s purpose remains the same as it was 50 years ago, that is to support research in business management. We are pleased through these donations to further strengthen the already highly regarded academic positions of Hanken and Aalto. We look forward to the advancements and innovations that these professorships will bring,’ says Paul Ehrnrooth, the chair of the Marcus Wallenberg's Foundation.

‘We warmly want to thank the Marcus Wallenberg’s foundation for this generous support. The foundation has played an absolutely central role in promoting excellence in business administration research during fifty years. This professorship will have a lasting impact well into the future,’ Hanken’s Rector Ingmar Björkman says. He would also like to express his gratitude towards Hanken’s Support Foundation that matches the funding for the professorship at Hanken.

Timo Korkeamäki, Dean of the School of Business, says that the donation is a very significant long-term investment in the university’s academic work. ‘It allows us to further strengthen our contributions both to the Finnish business community and to the global academic community. We are honoured and grateful for the donation.’

The announcement of the professorships was made on November 6th at Hanken School of Economics, where the Dr. h.c. Marcus Wallenberg ‘s Foundation celebrated its 50th anniversary with a seminar on management and leadership. The keynote speaker at the seminar was Jacob Wallenberg, Chairman of Investor Ab. Hanken and Aalto University organized the event in cooperation.
