Application period for Bachelor’s Programmes in English at Aalto University to start in January

Aalto University offers Bachelor’s Programmes in English in the fields of Business and Economics, Science and Technology as well as Art and Design. The application period for Bachelor’s Programmes in English is 9-23 January 2019.

Aalto University offers two new Bachelor’s Programmes in English in 2019. The new Bachelor’s Programme in Economics and Bachelor’s Programme in Design are available in English at the Otaniemi campus starting from autumn 2019. In addition, Aalto Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology offers three new study options, so in 2019, a total of five study options is available in the programme. Bachelor studies are also available in English at the Mikkeli campus in the Bachelor’s Programme in International Business.

Admissions to Bachelor studies in English are organized through the spring national joint application to higher education on 9 – 23 January 2019. The applications are submitted in the national Studyinfo service. Applicants are selected to complete both Bachelor and Master level degrees.

Bachelor's Programme in Economics

The demand for professional economists is growing rapidly. Important societal issues ranging from climate change to the causes and consequences of mass immigration are shaped by economic and political decision making. A solid training in economics combined with modern tools of data analysis allows you to understand how societies function and how you can change them for the better.

The B.Sc. program in Economics at Aalto University offers a unique curriculum in social sciences, business and quantitative methods. The program builds an understanding of individual behavior in different social contexts and helps to find solutions to concrete problems by the means of systematic analysis, mathematics and data science. The program is a great starting point for an international career in business, in organizations and in academia.

Bachelor's Programme in International Business

The Bachelor’s Programme in International Business (BScBA Program) at Aalto University Mikkeli Campus offers excellent and international education that combines extensive theoretical studies with real business life experience. Students also come acquainted with other cultures as students and professors come from several different countries.

Studying is full-time and the degree can be completed in less than three years. One semester (30 ECTS) is studied at a foreign exchange university. After completing the program, students can continue their studies directly in Master’s Programs of the Aalto University School of Business at the Otaniemi campus.

Problem solving skills, scientific and analytical thinking and the ability to work in a multicultural work environment develop during the studies through fast-paced learning and versatile teaching methods such as lectures, project work, teamwork presentations, company visits and field trips.

The program gives an up-to-date education and many alumni of the program work in diverse job positions in various fields, as analysts, consultants, project managers, HR specialists, marketing managers, CEOs, or entrepreneurs.

Bachelor's Programme in Design

The Aalto Bachelor’s programme in Design is a new international degree programme at Aalto University and the first bachelor programme at the School of Arts, design and Architecture to have a global student intake. Students admitted to the programme will learn about the design of 21st century products, services and systems in English together with an international group of students and faculty. The programme prepares them for a future working creatively with physical and digital media while building a rich portfolio of work addressing commercial and societal challenges and developments in the private, public and cultural sector.

Throughout three years of study, students will develop skills and knowledge to design with complexity and uncertainty as well as to prototype ideas and materialise solutions. They will learn to use contemporary tools, methods and processes for design as well as develop practices for acquiring new skills in the future.

Aalto Bachelor's Programme in Science and Technology

The Aalto Bachelor’s Programme in Science and Technology is a new English-medium Bachelor programme at Aalto University and one of the first bachelor programmes in the field of Technology to offer University-level Bachelor studies in English. The aim of the programme is to educate top-level experts to meet the needs of the digital society. The basic studies of the programme have a strong focus on mathematical and computational methods and robust information technology skills. All the major subjects have been designed with these perspectives in mind. In the 2019 admissions, there will be a total of five study options available in the programme:

Chemical Engineering (NEW)
Computational Engineering (NEW)
Data Science (first intake 2018)
Digital Systems and Design (first intake 2018)
Quantum Technology (NEW)

The programme offers the possibility to study in an international community in English. The first 39 students of the programme started their studies in the autumn of 2018. About one third of the new students in this programme are from Finland, while the rest come from countries such as Vietnam, Kazakhstan, India, Italy, the USA and Russia.
