AllWell? - Annual study wellbeing questionnaire to be open 15 February–1 March 2023

Students’ wellbeing is highly valued at Aalto University. The annual study wellbeing questionnaire, AllWell?, gives insight into the students’ views on teaching, their study wellbeing and study ability as well as peer support. This year, the questionnaire will be open from 15 February to 1 March 2023 and will be emailed to all second-year bachelor’s students and first-year master’s students.

By responding to the questionnaire, students have a chance to influence the university practices. After the questionnaire closes, all respondents will receive personal feedback by email. The feedback will give students tips on how to manage stress, improve study skills and stop procrastinating with difficult issues as well as why emotional skills matter in learning.

The programme-specific results of the AllWell? questionnaire will be submitted to the management of each school and programme. The results will be used for developing the university’s degree programmes and teaching, as well as services that support the students’ study ability and wellbeing.

The AllWell? student survey

The AllWell? student survey is sent to all Aalto’s 2nd year bachelor's and 1st year master's students every year.

Students learning field-specific terminology through glossary tasks

I interviewed two Aalto University instructors who have used glossaries created by students as coursework in a subject course and a field-specific language course. The assignments are based on active learning methods: the glossaries are not created by the instructor, but by the learners themselves. The interview focused, among other things, on the teaching philosophy behind developing the glossary tasks, how the learning of field-specific vocabulary can be linked to the overall learning objectives of the course, and what technical solutions enable students’ active learning in glossary assignments.
