Aalto-Primo has been upgraded to a new version with a refreshed interface. The enhancements introduced as part of the Next Discovery Experience (NDE UI) were shaped by feedback from our user community. These changes provide library services with greater flexibility for customization and aim to deliver a clearer, more adaptable search experience designed around user needs.

Enhanced usability and performance

• The platform now runs on the latest version of the Angular framework, which boosts performance, speeds up development, and makes maintenance easier.
• Accessibility has been significantly improved. Users who rely on assistive technologies can enjoy a better experience, with the platform now aiming for full compliance with the latest accessibility standards.
• Search relevance and the overall user experience have also been enhanced through the integration of Linked Data technologies and artificial intelligence.

Simpler search and filtering

• In response to user feedback, we’ve made changes to the homepage search. Search queries now default to "Search all materials," allowing for quicker searches, especially when using DOI or ISBN numbers.
• Pro tip: If you’re looking for physical materials, you can filter your search by material type (e.g., selecting "Book") and/or availability (e.g., choosing "Show availability in the collection"). This will help you zero in on the exact resource you need.
• To improve clarity, filters have been moved to the left side of the screen, making it faster and easier to refine your search results.

A streamlined “My Account” page

The redesigned "My Account" page brings all your library card features together in one convenient location. After logging in, you’ll have a clear view of your loans, reservations, fees, and saved items, searches, and settings. Navigating on mobile devices is now smoother than ever: tabs have been replaced with buttons to enhance usability on smaller screens.
