Thesis and working-life skills
Key working-life skills for thesis writing, and how to get support for them at Aalto University.
In our events, we are committed to Aalto University’s principles for a safer space.
Thesis Takeoff is a one-week thesis accelerator. The goal is for each participant to make concrete progress on their thesis and to establish a sustainable writing routine that will help them continue advancing their work even after the week ends.
Students work independently but together – everyone in the same space, each focusing on their own thesis. Throughout the week, we will dedicate plenty to writing and do various exercises that support concentration and workflow. Peer support among participants is also an important element of the group. Each day begins and ends together.
Thesis Takeoff is especially suitable for students who feel stuck with their thesis and who need support, structure, time, and a calm environment to move forward.
The group will be held in Finnish or English, depending on the participants. The group is organised by Aalto study psychologists and guidance counsellors.
Schedule: 26.–30.10.2026, daily at 9.00–15.00 (lunch break included)
Location: Harald Herlin Learning Centre, room K015b
