Better Business — Better Society Seminar Series
The Seminar Series discusses the current and societally important topics at the School of Business. The seminars will be arranged monthly, excluding holiday seasons.
Welcome to the Better Business – Better Society seminar: Managing Business Uncertainty in Practice!
Communities today face overlapping disruptions such as climate events, infrastructure stress, and unequal access to essential services. These challenges are not isolated; they interact, amplify one another, and often expose existing vulnerabilities. Organizations and policymakers are not lacking data. The challenge is translating large, complex datasets into decisions that are fair and timely.
The seminar will be built around a keynote by Jose Ramirez-Marquez, Associate Professor and Division Director of Enterprise Science and Engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. His keynote, Strategic Resilience – Leveraging Data to Address Community Vulnerabilities, focuses on how converting data into structured insights reveals where systems are vulnerable, who is most affected, and which interventions produce the greatest resilience gains.
The seminar is organised in collaboration with Center for Knowledge and Innovation Research (CKIR) and Aalto University School of Science. Other speakers and a more detailed agenda will be published later on this seminar webpage.
Invitations to the live seminar will be sent to the School of Business’s partners, supporters, invited guests, and alumni. The online stream of the seminar is open to everyone.
The event adheres to Aalto University's principles for a safer space.
The YouTube stream will be added here on the day of the seminar. The recording will be available for viewing on this page and on the seminar series page after the seminar.
