Welcome to the Better Business – Better Society seminar: Finland's Unemployment and AI!
Finland currently has the highest unemployment rate in Europe, and the rise of Artificial Intelligence may lead to further job losses and reallocations. This seminar will examine this issue from multiple points of view to provide well-rounded insights into unemployment and AI in Finland. It will consider how the government is responding to these challenges, how Finnish firms are adopting AI, and how universities are preparing for changing skill needs. Bringing together policymakers and labour economists, the discussion aims to connect academic research with policy priorities.
The topic will be introduced by Ciprian Domnisoru, Assistant Professor of Economics and Data Science at Aalto University School of Business. The introduction will be followed by a panel discussion to provide different perspectives on the issue – the panellists will be Elina Pylkkänen, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, Lari Hintsanen, CEO, Deloitte Finland, Aleksi Kalenius, Ministerial Adviser, Ministry of Education and Culture, and Petri Suomala, Vice President for Education, Aalto University.
Invitations to the live seminar will be sent to the School of Business’s partners, supporters, invited guests, and alumni. The online stream of the seminar is open to everyone.
