SGT Studio course

The SGT Studio course is the most versatile course in the SGT programme. Students will get the chance to develop their professional skills and knowledge through working with peer students and experts with different backgrounds, disciplines, and cultures on a sustainability challenge defined together with the project partners.

What is SGT Studio course?

WAT-E2070 Sustainable Global Technologies Studio is an intensive studio course ran by SGT Programme. This course focuses on experiencing first-hand a team project from start to finish on global development and sustainability themes. 

While working together within the team, students will get the chance to work with the local community, local students, academia, industries, and governmental and civil society, and learn how international collaborative project works in the sustainable development context. The learning process will start with planning the project, gathering of data, and end with the presentation of final solutions, products, or proposals at a public event. Each team will be guided and supported by a diverse team of SGT mentors and experts. The course includes a two-week field trip in Period IV to a destination agreed upon with project partners.

Who is the SGT studio course for?

SGT Studio is open for master’s and doctoral level students from all fields interested in global challenges and learning for sustainability. Candidates with prerequisite courses (SGT, UniPID, WitLAB courses, etc.) or relevant similar backgrounds have priority.

If you are interested in developing your knowledge and skills through a real-world project relating to sustainable development while getting the chance to work with people across different disciplines, expertise and cultures, then this course is for you.

When does SGT Studio take place?

SGT Studio runs during the Spring term, from Period III (Jan) to V (May/June). The course includes a two-week field trip, usually in February - March, to a destination agreed with project partners.

How to apply?

The application period for SGT Studio is open during Periods I-II. Application documents include CV, study transcript and motivation letter outlining the applicant’s role, skills and vision for the project. Applicants can apply to one or many study projects in priority order.

The application period for Studio 2024 is now closed, the next application round will open in Autumn 2024
