When do I need permission to photograph?

You need a permission to photograph when photography or video photography for public use takes place on university premises or when Aalto University can be identified with the photography, either by brand or location.

In public places on the Otaniemi campus or Aalto Töölö, such as outdoors, photography or video photography for private use does not require a separate photography permit. Please note that photographing persons always requires the consent of the persons concerned.

Where can I get permission to photograph?

When granting photography permits, the primary purpose of photography and video photography and the exact location on campus must be known. Photography permits are always granted on a case-by-case basis, please note that Aalto University does not, however, grant photography permits for party-political or religious events on the university premises or campus.

Permission to photograph is granted by the university's communications services. If the filming location is located in private premises of the university, such as research and teaching facilities, permission to photograph must be granted not only by communications services but also by the facility manager of the building.
