Career Design Lab: Career services for students and services for faculty and staff

Our career coaches help you to shape the next steps in your career and professional development that suit your values and interests. 

We can discuss for example about:  

• Identifying one's own strengths and saying skills
• Exploring Your Own Direction and Future Possibilities 
• Well-being at work & working life skills
• The process of job search (personal branding, strategy, CV, application letter, channels, job interview, AI at different stages of job search) and the emotions associated with job search

You can book

• Career Coaching, also with an emphasis on strenghts, entrepreneurship or an academic career
• Job search guidance which is intended for job search (summer job, internship, thesis position, post-graduation job), job search documentation and interview preparation support. 

Or you can join our weekly job search drop-in hours — no appointment needed. Wednesdays 13:00–15:00 at Starting Point of Wellbeing (Otakaari 1, Undergraduate Centre, room Y199c). Drop-in is available also to exchange students (unlike career coaching and job search guidance).

A career counselling psychologist is worth booking when you feel that transmission to work life is a concern, life situation or health reasons affect your career and study choices, or you need support with challenges of self-esteem or self-awareness. Available to all Aalto students. 

There are jobs published for Aalto students in the job portal (“JobTeaser”) where you can also find job search trainings and events which help you with job search and developing your job search skills. 

A comprehensive job search guide helps you in finding job search channels, getting familiar with a job search methods, and modifying CVs and cover letters.

Mentoring for master's and doctoral students: 

Aalto University Mentoring Programme runs annually from December to end of May. The purpose is to support student's career design, promote professional development and act as a bridge between study and working life. 

Aalto International Talent is a group mentoring and networking initiative designed to support our international students' careers. 

Aalto University and Career Design Lab offer events, trainings, workshops and courses that help you to shape your career, learn about the future of work, and develop skills needed in job search and in the workplace.
