Career Monitoring Survey 

The career monitoring survey is conducted as part of the national academic career monitoring*. The results presented on this page are based on the data obtained from the survey conducted in 2025 and targeted at graduates in 2020.

Satisfaction with Degree 

Graduates from the School of Engineering value their degree and feel that their employers appreciate their qualifications. Of the respondents who graduated in 2020, 92% were satisfied with their degree in relation to their own career, 97% felt that their employers value their degree, and 94% would recommend the degree to others. 

Employment

According to the results of the career monitoring survey, the employment situation for those who graduated from the School of Engineering in 2020 is very good. Of the respondents, 97% were either employed or self-employed. 

Five years after graduation, the median salary of respondents is 5 000 euros per month, and the average salary is 5 180 euros per month.

The largest companies and organizations (with over 250 employees) employ the most engineering professionals. Of the respondents, 48% work in large companies, 31% in small or medium-sized enterprises, 6% in universities, 6% in the municipal sector, and 5% for the state. 1% of respondents are entrepreneurs.

Respondents named companies such as AINS Group, Finnish Environment Institute (Syke), Helen, HSL – Helsinki Region Transport, Kone, Metso, NCC, Newsec, Ramboll, Sitowise and Sweco. 

Examples of the most common job titles include Consultant, Construction management expert, Data analyst, Doctoral researcher, HVAC engineer, Land use engineer, Mechanical engineer, Product development engineer, Project manager, Real estate management expert, Site Engineer, Sustainability expert, Traffic planner, and Urban development specialist.

The skills considered most important in their current jobs by the respondents include ability to learn and adopt new things, problem-solving skills, self-direction or initiative, analytical and systematic thinking skills, and iinformation retrieval skills. 

*The national career monitoring is coordinated by the Aarresaari network, which consists of 13 Finnish universities' employment and career services. The survey is conducted using a standardized questionnaire simultaneously for those who graduated five years ago. The national results of career monitoring are publicly available in the Education and Culture Ministry's Vipunen information service as a PowerBI report. Vipunen also provides other information about the employment of degree holders.
