Young people perceive Aalto University as trailblazer

Aalto University further improved its position in the image survey for higher education institutions conducted by Taloustutkimus. Nearly 900 Finns under the age of 30 responded in the survey for evaluating universities. According to the respondents, Aalto University is the best known university in Finland, and Aalto was also given the highest overall score.
High-quality teaching and highly valued degree
Ten statements were used to find out about the image of higher education institutions. The respondents assessed how well the statements applied to the university.
Mental images were more positive than previously, and Aalto placed at the top two in nine image factors. Aalto ranked first in seven of the studied categories, compared to previous year’s six categories: its reputation as a place of study is good, degrees are valued at the labour market, teaching is of high quality, the university is a trailblazer and stands out from the rest of the higher education institutions, the university has positive visibility in the media and has good social media presence. Aalto ranked second in two statements: its fields of education are interesting and it provides flexible online learning opportunities.
Internet an important information channel
The survey also produced information about the sources of information related to young people's education. The most frequently used source was the website of the educational institution, and the young people also carried out searches related to the field of education and the educational institution. The significance of the latter two as sources of information has been growing most sharply. The sought information is most commonly related to courses offered, admission requirements, fields of education and application instructions.
