Aalto University President Tuula Teeri will leave her position as the President of Aalto University to become the President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (Kungliga Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien, IVA) probably in the late autumn. The Aalto University Foundation Board will initiate an application process for the selection of a new President.

‘Already at this stage, I would like to thank Tuula Teeri for her significant contribution in the development of Aalto University and congratulate her for her new task at IVA. With her leadership, science, art, technology and business have been combined into a multidisciplinary university with a strong identity and good international reputation,’ says Anne Brunila, Chair of the Aalto University Board.

‘During the period of Tuula Teeri, extensive projects related to the founding of Aalto University have been consolidated and the University's integrated campus is taking shape at a good pace in Otaniemi. We have a solid base for continuing the good work.  Now we are looking for a successor to Tuula Teeri as an implementor of Aalto University's strategy,’ Anne Brunila continues.

‘I came to Aalto University nearly eight years ago to lead the building up of the University. It has been a very ambitious project and exceptionally interesting undertaking. We have realised a major change and made great efforts to improve the quality of research. Both our academic results and our societal influence have significantly improved and I am convinced that our future direction is clear,’ says Tuula Teeri.

‘My future work at the head of IVA offers a vantage point to make use of what I have learnt this far. I will still continue my work at Aalto University for some time, but already at this stage I would like to warmly thank the whole Aalto community and the Aalto University Board for constructive and inspiring cooperation,’ Tuula Teeri concludes.
