In the 2025 participatory budgeting vote, the winning idea was an easily accessible sensory-friendly relaxation room for students. The relaxation room is intended for short rests during the opening hours of the Undergraduate Centre. The room has a divan sofa and an armchair as well as the possibility to darken the space with curtains.
If you want to use the relaxation room, you can reserve it on an ad hoc basis via Aalto Space for a maximum of one hour at a time. The room’s name is Lepohuone / Relaxation Room and its code is Y420. The new relaxation room is intended for students only.
The relaxation room as part of the participatory budgeting project
The ideation process was part of the annual ‘One euro for every student’ participatory budgeting project, which was implemented for the first time in 2021. The aim of the project is to develop the campus by involving students in decision-making. Approximately one euro per student is reserved annually for implementation, which this year meant 14,000 euros from the university’s budget. Through participatory budgeting, the campus has been developed from the students’ perspective, particularly to promote wellbeing and comfort.
