More than a thousand students have received scholarships from the Ilkka Kontula Foundation
Ilkka Kontula, LL.M., M.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin.), who passed away in 2012, studied at both Helsinki School of Economics and the University of Helsinki. Kontula had made a bequest to ease the everyday life of students. Thus, the Ilkka Kontula Foundation annually awards grants to students at both the Aalto University School of Business and the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki.
The foundation awards grants based on the GPAs (grade point average) to the best students pursuing a bachelor's degree in business/economics/international business. Awarded students are also required to have completed at least 80 credits during the first three semesters of attendance.
Valuable support from the Ilkka Kontula Foundation
The Chairman of the Board of the Ilkka Kontula Foundation, Professor of commercial law Seppo Villa from the University of Helsinki, estimated in September that the Faculty of Law and the School of Business have awarded students scholarships worth a total of 1,340,000 euros between 2014 and 2025! This means that already 1340 students have received a 1000 euro scholarship.
’The grants from the Ilkka Kontula Foundation are a wonderful sign of appreciation. Next spring, we will again reward our students with these scholarships. I have also heard that our students appreciate the scholarship award event, which we have always organised, so we will continue that practice as well,’ says Dean Timo Korkeamäki.
