LC-1121 Communicating Sustainable Solutions (o,w) (3 cr)
This interdisciplinary problem-based learning (PBL) course focuses on developing key spoken and written communication skills required for future working life! During this course, you will collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to find solutions to real-life sustainability issues faced by companies and organizations.
Open to all bachelor-level students in all schools! Master’s students will be accepted to the course if there is space. 40% of the places are reserved for students from CHEM, ELEC, ENG, SCI, 30% for BIZ students and 30% for ARTS students.

Are you interested in developing communication skills directly relevant to teamwork? “LC-0615 Intercultural Communication in Teamwork” is designed for all levels of students who wish to improve their awareness to effectively work in a diverse team in various professional contexts. To achieve this goal, this course discusses useful communication strategies to prevent and resolve potential misunderstandings and miscommunications in teamwork. Throughout the course, we will have lots of small group discussions as well as teamwork activities, so we can apply the course materials to real-life professional contexts.

If you have Finnish as your mother tongue/school education language you can start by taking an entry-level test to identify the right course and study method for you.
You can find the test in MyCourses by using search words "ruotsin lähtötasotesti + ENG, CHEM, ELEC, SCI, ARTS tai BIZ" depending on your field of study.
You can only take the test once, so please take your time and do the test carefully and thoughtfully from start to finish.
Please note that the teachers that are responsible for courses and exams will check the accuracy of your test score in MyCourses before confirming registrations. Therefore, to save resources, please be honest when registering in Sisu about your score on the entry level test.

LC-5008 Träna fackspråklig kommunikation på svenska, är avsedd för studenter vid Aalto-universitetets alla högskolor. Den passar för studenten som vill utveckla sina färdigheter i svenska inom sin egen bransch för arbetslivets eller akademiska behov (ersätter kursen LC-5810). Du kan delta i kursen efter någon tidigare avlagd grundkurs. Studerande som har goda kunskaper i svenska kan delta i kursen direkt.
Written communication (in Finnish)
- LC-7109 Academic writing (3 cr) is a comprehensive package of knowhow for students writing their master theses. The course deepens the student’s grasp of the many dimensions of an academic thesis and its writing process. The course is held in the class.
- LC-7110 Academic writing for doctoral students (3 cr) provides a strong basis for research writing and popular scientific writing. Finnish is both the medium language as well as the topical language but the course suits also those writing their theses in English who want to improve their Finnish writing skills. The method of implementation (class/remote) will be agreed on upon the course start.
