Jokeri Light Rail contact lines installed in March

Construction of the Jokeri Light Rail system is nearing completion in Otaniemi. Currently on winter break, work will resume in March with installation of contact lines between Maarintie and Otaniementie.

Work this week (Week 9) begins with snow removal. Contact line installations will start during Week 10 and include setting electrical cross-arms and stringing overhead cables. Construction will occur on day shifts and on night shifts, depending on the work phase. Caution should be exercised when near the work area as heavy machinery and equipment will be moving along the tracks from Maarintie all the way to Otaniementie. The work will not result in significant noise.

The contact line work is scheduled to last until Week 13.

Jessica Sinikoski: Events must have room for a little magic

'My mission is to communicate what Aalto sounds, looks, smells, tastes and feels like, make the message tangible. As we are very close to nature in Otaniemi, the experience should have a bit of tree needles and soil in it, but it should also represent innovation, creativity and social impact.'
