Ilkka Kontula, LL.M., M.Sc. (Econ. & Bus. Admin), who died in 2012, studied both at the Helsinki School of Economics (today Aalto University School of Business) and the University of Helsinki. With his bequest, he wanted to give assistance to students in their everyday lives. Thus, the Ilkka Kontula Foundation awards annual incentive scholarships to students of the School of Business and the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki.

Scholarships are awarded annually to successful students who have completed at least 80 credit units during their first three terms. Personal scholarships are worth 1000 euros.
