Access to Aalto University services blocked from anonymous proxies and Tor network on 29 April 2025

Aalto University’s cyber security resilience is constantly developed. As part of this development work, from 29 April 2025 onwards, access to Aalto University services is not possible from anony-mous proxies, botnets or Tor networks.

What do I need to do?

If you’re using a third-party virtual private network (VPN) solution your access to Aalto services may be blocked. This is due to VPN providers’ IP addresses being commonly classified as anonymous proxies, which they technically are.

When working outside of Aalto University networks, it is recommended to use Aalto VPN service, to connect to Aalto University services. Using Aalto VPN helps secure communications and gain the best possible access to Aalto University services when working outside Aalto networks.
