Aalto University Summer School opens application period for summer 2026

Summer School at Aalto University runs a total of 11 summer courses during July and August this year, with four brand-new courses in the curriculum.

The application period for the summer courses at Aalto University Summer School opens on 30 January 2026, offering students from all over the world to participate in a summer course at Aalto University, and to get a taste of the Finnish summer.  

The Summer School is part of Aalto University Lifewide Learning, which aims to provide learning opportunities and skill-development in the form of courses, modules, lectures and microcredentials for learners at any stage of their lives. While the majority of the Summer School participants are degree students from universities all over the world, learners such as working professionals join the courses every year as well. 

Summer School topics this year include re-runs of popular courses like Happiness Science from Finland, Nordic Design Futures (previously named Nordic Product Design), Introduction to AI and Machine Learning and Designing Brand Strategy, to name a few. In addition, Summer School has launched four new courses for 2026, such as Change Management for Digital Transformation and English for Impact and Innovation.  

Degree studies at Aalto University a natural next step for summer school students 

According to student feedback from summer 2025, the main motivators for participating in a summer course at Aalto University is the chance to experience Finland as a country, as well as exploring opportunities for degree education at Aalto University. Aalto University Summer School collaborates with Aalto University student marketing make sure that the summer school students get all the information they need about the university’s wide variety of degree programs during their stay. 

The combination of interactive project work, occasional company visits, and external guest lecturers make the courses at Summer School a versatile mix of lectures and hands-on exercises.

The summer school courses are carefully designed by the course teachers in collaboration with the Summer School team to create intensive learning opportunities that work well in a short format.

The application period for Aalto University Summer School is open from 30 January to 31 May 2026.
