Aalto University looking for a new President
Aalto University is looking for a visionary academic leader to act as an ambassador of the University in cooperation with industry and society in Finland and internationally. A strong student focus and promotion of the University’s multidisciplinarity and entrepreneurial activities are essential to the position.
“We are looking for an inspiring leader who will implement our ambitious vision for building an innovative society together with the whole Aalto community and stakeholders”, says Anne Brunila, Chair of the Aalto University Board.
Both an open call for applications and executive search will be used in recruiting the new President. Aalto University also welcomes the community’s and stakeholders’ proposals for suitable candidates. The call for applications is open until 7 May, 2017. The President will be appointed for a term of five years.
A search committee consisting of board members Anne Brunila, Mikko Kosonen and Susanna Pettersson, Professors Risto Nieminen, Matti Keloharju and Martti Raevaara, student representative Joona Orpana, and stakeholder representative Risto Siilasmaa will be responsible for the recruitment process and candidate search. Perrett Laver, a leading international recruitment specialist in the higher education sector will be the University’s partner in the recruitment process.
The current President of Aalto University Tuula Teeri will leave her position at the end of October when she takes the role of President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). In accordance with Aalto University bylaws, Provost Ilkka Niemelä will be responsible for the President’s duties during the transition period from the beginning of July, when President Tuula Teeri starts her leave.
