Team Prinsys proudly introduces the PrinSys Hydrodetector, an innovative leak detection tape that revolutionizes how we manage water leaks throughout buildings. This cutting-edge project features a battery-free system designed to address common water leakage challenges in roofs, interior structures, and retrofits for bathrooms, kitchens, and pipelines.

The focus is on creating a sustainable, ultra-thin, and flexible tape that can fit virtually anywhere. The PrinSys Hydrodetector Tape is easily customizable and requires no maintenance or batteries, providing wireless leak detection for large areas over decades.

Prinsys Hydrodetector aims to substantially reduce both direct and indirect costs related to water damage, overcoming the limitations of existing solutions in retrofit markets with their high installation and maintenance expenses. Prinsys Hydrodetector presents a more user-friendly and cost-effective alternative, utilizing integrated flexible electronics. The sensor node operates without batteries, drawing power directly from leaking water.

By prioritizing eco-friendly design, the Prinsys Hydrodetector system seeks to lessen maintenance demands while minimizing environmental impacts. This forward-thinking approach not only boosts efficiency but supports sustainability goals by eliminating reliance on conventional battery technology. The research focuses on developing printed energy-harvesting electrodes, antennas, and flexible materials. Additionally, we are conducting a detailed analysis of competitors, identifying potential market segments, and determining geographical targets to build effective business models and go-to-market strategies.

We are currently testing the system with a major hotel chain and pension house, with plans to initiate several new tests with other hotel chains and large building owners and operators in the first quarter of 2026.
