Meet the Professor Tiina Nypelö - Resource-efficient materials biorefinery

Welcome to meet Tiina Nypelö, an Associate Professor of Lignocellulose Chemistry at Aalto University’s Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems.
She leads the Lignocellulose Chemistry research group, which focuses on the efficient processing and utilisation of wood fibres, hemicelluloses, and other lignocellulosic components for sustainable materials and biorefinery applications.
Her research combines lignocellulose chemistry with surface and colloid science, with particular interest in developing new approaches for biomass processing and creating high-value materials from renewable resources.
Nypelö received her D.Sc. (Tech.) from Aalto University in 2012 and has held research positions in Austria, the United States, Sweden, and Finland.
