Aalto Strategy Circle After Work: artificial intelligence and competitive advantage

Welcome to the third Aalto strategy alumni circle after-work event, this time on the topic of AI and competitive advantage. Hear and discuss about latest insights and best practices from academics and practitioners about how firms may use AI as a source of advantage and what it takes to implement a strategy with AI as a cornerstone. Michael Ryall, Professor of Management at Florida Atlantic University, will provide insights from the academic side. Anni Ronkainen, former Chief Digital Officer at Kesko Corporation, and Tero Ojanperä, co-founder and chairman, Silo.AI, will share their experience and best practices.

Michael Ryall is Professor of Management at Florida Atlantic University and is Director of Policy at the Madden Center for Value Creation. He is interested in exploring the nature of human learning in complex, interactive, and dynamic settings. His research interests extend to the intersection of game theory, causal inference, AI, and philosophy. He has taught at various academic levels, including undergraduate, MBA, Masters, Ph.D., and executive programs.

Anni Ronkainen is a Finnish business executive and board member. She previously held the position of Chief Digital Officer at Kesko Corporation, a Finnish retail company, where she was responsible for driving the digital transformation of the organization. Prior to this role, Ronkainen served as the Country Manager for Google in Finland, where she oversaw the company's operations and growth strategy in the Finnish market.

Tero Ojanperä is a co-founder of Silo AI, one of Europe's largest private AI labs and a Professor of Practice, Aalto University, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management. He is the former CTO and chief strategy officer of Nokia and currently serves on the boards of several non-listed and listed companies. This is a great opportunity to hear about the latest insights and learn about best practices as well as share experiences with your colleagues. The event is free of charge and open for all Aalto alumni who are interested in the topic of strategy.

Moderator Professor Jens Schmidt, Aalto University

Jens Schmidt is a strategy professor at Aalto University, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management and the director of the Master’s Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management. His research focuses on strategic thinking, entrepreneurial strategy and ecosystems, and he has worked on strategy development with both large and small organizations.

The event is open for all Aalto alumni who are interested in the topic of strategy. The Aalto Alumni Strategy Circle is an opportunity to meet and discuss with like-minded colleagues, share experiences with them, and hear from the leading experts and practitioners about best practices.
