Regenerative Textile Garden

The Regenerative Textile Garden cultivates fibre and dye plants for natural textile crafts while restoring the garden ecosystem through regenerative practices.
Textile Garden in the early Summer

Project Launch: spring 2026

Why do we do it?

The project promotes sustainable material research, community-based making, and knowledge sharing across Otaniemi.

What do we do?

  • Grow and source plants that produce natural pigments and fibres
  • Experimental preparation of natural textile dyes and fibre extraction
  • Build and maintain an open source natural dye and fibre catalogue
  • Facilitate workshops and research efforts on natural pigments and fiber

Who’s involved?

Each year, a team of around 3-5 volunteers lead the gardening, harvesting and experimentation efforts with experts who volunteer to lead crafting workshops.

You don’t have to be an expert in textiles or gardening to get involved! We’re actively looking for people to join the coordination and gardening team. Fill this form https://tally.so/r/nPaL41 to register your interest.
