Aalto University and VTT are key engines of Finnish research and innovation; together, their expertise unlocks strong synergies
Strategic cooperation between Aalto University and other universities and research institutes in the metropolitan area has a long tradition. In addition to the University of Helsinki, Svenska Handelshögskolan, the University of the Arts and the National Defence University, Aalto University also has strong university cooperation within the FITech network university.
A strategic partnership agreement was signed in autumn 2024 with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The cooperation focuses particularly in the areas of the twin transition, security and entrepreneurship.
In addition to VTT, the University also works closely with the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), the National Land Survey of Finland, CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd and the Natural Resources Institute Finland. Extensive and knowledge-generating cooperation has also long been established with the HUS Group, in particular the Helsinki University Central Hospital.
Long-term cooperation offers the potential for scientific breakthroughs and new innovations. In addition to research and teaching cooperation, there is also cooperation in the maintenance of research infrastructures and services to the university community.
