Events & Courses
Put career design principles in action and learn valuable career skills! Aalto University and Career Design Lab offer events and courses that help you shape your career, learn about the future of work, and develop skills needed in the workplace.
Events
Each semester, we organize various career events, such as:
- career design and job search workshops
- networking opportunities with alumni and companies
- career fairs: the Summer Job Day in early spring and the Aalto Talent Expo in the fall. As these fairs approach, you can sign up for CV and portfolio clinics as well as speed mentoring sessions with company representatives.
Workshops
In the Career Design Lab workshops you will learn more about career design thinking, identify your values and strengths, create your career narrative and ideate practical experiments with your peers. Throughout the academic year we along with our partners offer workshops and webinars on working life topics. Topics include:

Courses
The free, self-paced online courses offered by Career Design Lab and Aalto University provide an opportunity to explore the future of work, career design, Finnish working culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship. These courses are developed by Aalto University’s faculties and can be completed at your own pace.
Design a Meaningful Career
This course shows how you can creatively shape your career as you go in the radically changing world of work. It focuses on meaningful work as a core element of career sustainability and explores ways to design a value-driven career narrative to guide your actions.
Future of Work
We are amid a revolution of work, which started already long before the pandemic. This course will look at how the roles of the individual, organisations and society have changed and how it affects how we work today and in the future.
Finland Works
In this course, we will look at how to navigate Finnish working life and how to build a career. We explore working life in Finland from societal, organizational and individual perspectives.
Starting Up
The open access online course covers the fundamentals of startup entrepreneurship
Radical Creativity
This course will teach you what radical creativity is and how to apply it in individual, organizational, and leadership contexts. You will learn how to create deep change—whether in business, the arts, or technology.
