Marsio

Approximately 6,500 brm2 of state-of-the-art multifunctional space for teaching, research, events and a studio centre will be completed at Marsio (Otakaari 2A). Its facilities will be equipped with new digital technologies that enable cross-disciplinary research and teaching, and will take Aalto's events to a new level, both on campus and virtually.

The aim of the new building is to showcase for Aalto's unique research and teaching both in Finland and internationally. In addition to the facilities serving Aalto's users, the building will have space for restaurant and event service operators.

Kide

The Kide building (Konemiehentie 1, previously Otakaari 2B) brings approximately 5,700 brm2 for teaching, research and office space to the School of Science and the School of Electrical Engineering. The new building will be connected to the Nanotalo building and Aalto Nanomicroscopy Center, allowing for more collaboration in the field of nanotechnology.

The building complements the range of facilities in the universities and brings flexibility to the operation of the higher education institutions.

Schedule and construction

The construction site of the buildings was fenced off at the beginning of January 2022, when the parking spaces at the Otakaari 2B construction site were also removed. At the same time, the pedestrian ways and cycle lanes were completely moved to Väre and the School of Business building side. Construction sites may cause temporary disturbances on Otakaari, Maarintie and Konemiehentie.

Work began in February 2022. The buildings are estimated to be completed in 2023-2024.
