“Illnesses, abscesses, viruses, aliens and rebirth. Those are themes we’ve been immersing ourselves in today. Somewhere in the back of our minds has also been an idea of how there is understanding to also seek beauty in flaws in the Japanese culture, for example. We’re going into this project with that attitude – even if we’re still at the starting line. Artek’s classic furniture is so sacred in Finland that making modifications to it by means of, for instance, a hot-air blower feels like taking a bite of the forbidden fruit."
