Maija Tammi, who is currently finishing her doctoral thesis for Aalto University Department of Media, has been shortlisted for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Price along with two other artists. The prize is the leading international photographic portrait competition, celebrating top contemporary portrait photography.

Tammi’s portrait ‘One of Them Is a Human #1’ is part of a series, which presents androids alongside one human, thus posing questions about humanity and what it is to be alive. The photo was taken at the Ishiguro-laboratories, Osaka University.
