New Aalto Student checklist

Please, take a good look to go over the following steps. You find detailed information on each in the guide for New Students in international joint Master's programmes.

  1. Accept your admission offer

You will receive an e-mail with personal link to studyinfo.fi portal soon after receiving your Letter of Admission. Click the link and follow the instructions to accept the admission offer.

Please accept your admission offer by the corresponding deadline to your programme:

    - by 25 April 2024 (3:00 pm, GMT +3) if you have been admitted to the Nordic Master programme in Visual Studies and Art Education. If you have been admitted off the waiting list, check the deadline from the admission letter!

  2. Submit hard copies of your application documents

The acceptance to the university is conditional until certified (attested) hard copy documents have been delivered to the Student Services of School of Arts, Design and Architecture. The conditionally granted right to study will be cancelled if the certified documents, or documents according to the country-specific document requirements, are not received in the required manner by the deadline.

The deadline for the officially certified study certificates is 16 May 2024 (at 15.00, GMT +3) for admitted applicants. This deadline concerns applicants who have been admitted to Nordic Master programme in Visual Studies and Art Education when the results have been published and who have, by then, already completed their degree.

For applicants admitted off the waiting list (in April, May or June), the deadline is 15 August 2024 (at 15.00, GMT +3).

For applicants with an incomplete degree, the graduation date must be by 31 July 2024. The deadline for submitting the certified documents is 15 August 2024 (at 15:00, GMT +3).

The deadlines cannot be extended. In case the required documents are not received by the deadline, or if you are not able to graduate by the deadline, the conditionally granted study right will be cancelled.

Please send the hard copies of these documents to Student Services of School of Arts, Design and Architecture (contact information below) by mail or courier service. Read carefully and follow the instructions for certified hard copy documents .

  3. Pay the participation / programme / tuition fee of your programme (if applicable)
  4. Apply for Residence Permit (non-EU/non-EEA Citizens) or register your residence (EU/EEA Citizens)
  5. Enrol for the academic year 2024-2025 at Aalto University

To ensure that your student status is valid from the beginning of academic year (1 August) you should enrol no later than 31 July 2024 or sooner, if possible. Enrolling as attending is also a precondition for using any Aalto services, getting a student number, and registering for courses. The final deadline to enroll is 30 August 2024.

All students actively studying towards a degree should by law be members of a student union, which is why this is considered a condition for enrolment at the university. Read more about the student union membership and its benefits on AYY website.

Students liable for tuition fees in Nordic Master programmes

Due to additional regulations concerning tuition fees, students with a tuition fee liability must first pay their tuition fee before enrolling in My Studyinfo.

    Conditionally admitted students

If your admission offer is conditional, you can only enrol at the university after the condition has been fulfilled and the admission is not conditional anymore. Please refer to your Letter of Admission to check if you have been admitted conditionally.
