The first business course Global Business Environment will begin on Monday, 2 September 2024, with mandatory attendance.
The orientation week starts on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 9.15 am in the School of Business Mikkeli Campus lobby (Lönnrotinkatu 5) with registration. Please note: You are required to bring the following with you to the registration:
- an ID with a picture to proof your identification

a receipt of the paid invoice of the mandatory Student Union AYY fee
If you have paid the AYY payment through the OILI-service OR have already delivered us the original receipt of the AYY payment, you do not need to bring a receipt with you to the Orientation Week.
- the original diploma and a transcript from your upper secondary school (e.g., an original Finnish Matriculation Examination Certificate or a foreign diploma).
- a pen and a calculator – those you need during the week.
Your student tutor will contact you in August. Your contact information will be given to your tutor. Tutors are senior students who help new students during orientation week and at the beginning of their studies. Each new student is assigned a student tutor who has completed tutoring training. Tutoring is carried out in cooperation with tutors, University personnel and student organizations. The tutors introduce students to the campus, student organization activities (KY & AYY) and student life in general. You will also find the contact information for your tutors in the tutor letter sent to you by email in August. You can and should contact your tutors with any questions you might have or just get to know them.
The Computer Applications sessions (schedule and requirements below) are a mandatory part of the Orientation to University Studies (1 cr) course. These sessions include 5 lectures on Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as a test session. The purpose of the test is to evaluate if the student knows how to use these three software on a sufficient level.
The students can participate in the pre-test session on the orientation week Monday, 26 August, if they think they have the necessary skills to pass one or all the exams without participating in the teaching sessions.
More information on the schedule and the test requirements can be found here below.
