The focus of my research is how new industries and market categories emerge and develop - how new ideas, products and practices move from margins to mainstream. The studies explore this topic from multiple theoretical perspectives, including institutional theory, symbolic management, market categorization, temporality, narratives, and agency in nascent fields. Empirically, my collaborative, multidisciplinary research draws on extensive qualitative datasets on for example the development of solar technology, nanotechnology, material sciences, cultural industries and food trends. I have received Organization Studies Best Paper Award also known as Roland Calori Prize and EGOS Best Paper Award for the studies that examine the emergence of nanotechnology. I was also chosen as the Scholar of the Year at Aalto University School of Business in 2017.

In terms of academic service, I am a member of the editorial board of Academy of Management Journal and write reviews to several other journals (e.g. ASQ, AMR, Organization Studies). I recently ended a period as the member of the Executive Committee of the Organization and Management Theory Division at the Academy of Management. Moreover, I engage in program management in the role of the Director of the Aalto Biz and Aalto School of Sciences joint Master's Program in Strategy; and as the head of the doctoral program in Organization and Management subject.

With regards to corporate projects, I engage with incumbent companies to inform on aspects of commercialization of new innovations and entry to new market segments. I also work with identifying future trends and exploring their application to a firm or an organization in a particular segment. Prior to my academic career I worked as a consultant for Accenture and a brief time in the media sector at Bertelsmann in Germany.
