Jose Maria Perez-Macias Martin

Dr. Jose Perez-Macias Martin is a biomedical engineer and researcher in the Department of Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering at Aalto University, contributing to the INGA HEALTH project on intelligent sensor platforms for remote biometric monitoring.

He holds a doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences and Engineering from Tampere University, specializing in unobtrusive physiological monitoring, mattress-embedded electromechanical film (EMFiT) transducers, ballistocardiography (BCG), and sleep-disordered breathing detection.

Industry & Clinical R&D Track Record:

• Emfit Ltd (Emfit Oy): Represented the company as technical delegate in two EU research projects, developing mattress sensor algorithms for sleep monitoring and snoring detection.
• Huawei Helsinki Concept Lab: Advanced research in wearable health technology, physiological biosignal testing (PPG, EMG, ECG), and motion-artifact reduction.
• Tampere University Hospital (TAYS): Clinical device calibration, routine technical operations, and clinical research including ICU continuous EEG trend analysis.
• Philips Research Laboratories (Aachen, Germany): Contributed to the major European Commission FP7 EU "MyHeart" project, researching wearable and unobtrusive cardiovascular monitoring technologies.
