Research assistant positions at the International Business Unit at Aalto University School of Business

Research assistant positions at the International Business Unit at Aalto University School of Business

What would I do as a research assistant?

You would be working with the faculty on academic research projects, teaching related tasks and assignments about societal impact. Potential tasks include data collection and analysis, conducting literature reviews, statistical analyses, research interviews, and any other research tasks. The topics you may work on are varied and broad, such as headquarters (re)locations, diversity, languages in organizations, sustainability, human resources, and international entrepreneurship.

We have a need for a few research assistants. The selected research assistants are expected to start either in May or latest in June, and continue throughout the summer and, if possible, stay with the faculty throughout the whole academic year. There is a possibility to work full time or part-time, with flexibility based on mutual preferences.

What’s in it for me?

As a member of our community, you will have the opportunity to widen your perspectives on various international business topics as well as familiarize yourself with an academic career and learn research skills on the job. These skills will not only be helpful in your Master’s thesis but are also in demand in many professions outside of academia. If you decide to pursue an academic career, you will benefit greatly from an early integration into the research community. And of course, you will get flexible working hours and a salary (regular research assistant pay). While the work is mostly independent, there is also teamwork in projects and you will be a member of a great team, including other research assistants.

What is required?

We are looking for active BSc and MSc university students. First and foremost, we want dedicated people who fit well into our community and who have a genuine interest in international business and research. A good command of written English is a requirement, skills in Finnish or other languages are beneficial. The ability to confidently set up and conduct interviews with senior managers in an engaging manner is also a plus.

How can I apply?

Include in your application a personal motivation letter, CV, and a transcript of your university grades. If you have a bachelor’s thesis or some other suitable writing sample, please submit that as well. Submitting a writing sample is not required.

If you want to join our community, please submit your application through our recruitment system Workday no later than Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at 23:59 (Helsinki time). Aalto University’s employees should apply for the position by using their existing Workday user account. Please see how to do it here.

The applicants selected for interviews will receive invitations for 1-2 rounds of (remote) interviews by the end of February, and the final hiring decisions will be made by end of March.
