The Aalto.fi website and some other Aalto web services were temporarily closed or restricted to the internal network on 21 October. The issue has now been resolved, and the university's online services are operating mostly normally.  Recovery will continue for some time, and there may be temporary disruptions in the online services.

The reason was a critical vulnerability discovered in the PHP software used to run these services. The vulnerability caused disruptions to online services in Finland and around the world.

The rollout of the patched software version began at Aalto on the evening of 21 October.
