Job Description

The vacancy is positioned at the Department of Marketing within Aalto University’s School of
Business. The Marketing Department’s research efforts particularly focus, but are not limited, on
areas such as Consumer Culture Theory, Strategic Marketing, Service Marketing and Retailing.
Research and teaching experience connecting to one of the mentioned core areas will be seen
as an advantage. Teaching assignments encompass undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D.
programs. Most of the courses are taught in English. For more information about the

Requirements

At any level of the academic tenure track system, a candidate is expected to perform
world‐class research, to teach, to supervise and otherwise advance both doctoral and
undergraduate education, to be an active member of the international scientific community, and
to exhibit academic leadership. Professors in the Aalto University’s tenure track system have a
possibility to advance on their career based on scheduled performance assessments, which
take into account candidate’s merits in all the mentioned areas.

The applicant is expected to have a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and to have a fluent
command of English. The applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research, teaching
and academic leadership, and activity in the scientific community. The evaluation of applicants
will be supported by bibliometric analyses using e.g. ISI Web of Science.
Experience in acquiring funding for research projects and co-operation with industry and
research institutions will be considered as an advantage.

Salary

Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also
provide salary requests.
